
Orchestra Director
Dr. Congcong Bi was born in Shandong, China, and began her music training at the age of thirteen after being admitted to the Xinghai Conservatory of Music. At seventeen, she was awarded a full scholarship to study at the ArtEZ Conservatory in the Netherlands.Dr. Bi earned her Bachelor’s degree from ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle, Netherlands, followed by a Master’s degree from Lee University in Tennessee. She later completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Cello Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Southern Mississippi.During her studies, Dr. Bi received first place in the Lee University Concerto Competition, she was selected as Mississippi’s representative at the MTNA Division-Level Competition.
She is an active recitalist who regularly presents solo and chamber performances. Most recently, she performed a series of solo recitals at venues including Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, Emory University, and the University of North Georgia.Dr. Bi currently serves as the Orchestra Director at Lakeside High School, where her ensembles have earned Superior ratings at LGPE, and her students have participated in All-State orchestras.In addition to her work in public school, Dr. Bi is an adjunct instructor at the University of North Georgia and Gwinnett Technical College. Her research has been presented at both national and international conferences, including the Research on Contemporary Composition Conference, the International Study Group on Music Archaeology Symposium in Würzburg, Germany, and the TCSG Mathematics & Science Conference. Her work has also been published in the International Journal of Computer Mathematics.Outside of her professional work, Dr. Bi enjoys practicing music with friends, going to the gym, and spending time with her family.
