Orchestra Journey: From Intermediate to Mastery and find Your Place in Orchestra
Intermediate Orchestra
This ensemble is designed for students who have prior experience playing a string instrument, typically from middle school orchestra programs. Students from our feeder middle schools are automatically placed into this group. Students who believe they are ready for a higher level (Advanced or Mastery Orchestra) may submit audition materials for placement consideration.
Advanced Orchestra
This ensemble is for students who demonstrate strong fundamental skills and are able to perform moderately challenging repertoire with independence. Students are expected to maintain consistent tone and intonation, and contribute actively in rehearsals. Audition is required for placement.
Mastery Orchestra
This is our highest-level ensemble, designed for students with advanced technical and musical abilities. Students in this group are expected to perform challenging repertoire at a high level of artistry, demonstrate strong independence in learning music, and show leadership within the ensemble. Participation in auditions, honor groups (such as All-State), and additional performance opportunities is strongly encouraged. Audition is required for placement.
